Shoe Repair- Help Your Shoes Look Brand New Everyday
Shoe repair has been around for many years, even decades.
The first cobbler’s saw shoes in much need of
repair and devised a way to accomplish this without
charging a high price. Cobblers were able to take old
worn out shoes and apply new soles and heels. The threads
were re-waxed to prevent further deterioration.
In past years especially in the years following the
Great Depression, people needed to save old shoes because
there was no money for new shoes. Hand me down shoes
to siblings also provide cobbler’s with a great
deal of work as well. Shoe repair involves making an
old shoe look almost new and revitalized.
Repairing Women’s Shoes
Women have a hard time giving up their shoes. The old
age saying is that they might come back in style. This
has become true for many variations of women’s
shoes. Shoe repair allows women to replace broken or
worn heels and have the soles redone to keep the form
of the shoe wearable. Heel replacement for high heels,
flats, or modern day lower heel shoes are done by matching
the heel to the shoe style.
Women seem to keep shoe technicians in business because
of the heel styles. Breaking a heel is very common among
women everywhere. Most repair shops can have a shoe
repaired in as little as a few hours if they have time.

Men have been known to wear out there favorite pair
of shoes by working or doing everyday things men do.
Cobblers are busy repairing shoes for men such as sole
replacement and heel replacement. A man can have a pair
of boots that are ready for the trash, but they will
feel the need to repair them because they are comfortable
or they do not make that style anymore.
Work shoes for men are also in need of repair sometimes
because of the steel tips. The leather material wears
from the steel tip of the shoe exposing the tip cup;
this sometimes can be patched with a leather repair
material. Again, this is not common practice, but some
shoe repair shops practice this service.
Other Kinds of Shoe Repairs
Golf shoes and baseball shoes sometimes need to be
re-studded. A shoe repair shop provides this type of
service but may be costly, but sometimes the cost is
worth the price if you wear the shoes well when competing
in the type of sport for shoe design. Moccasins that
have a good bottom may need re-stitching when the stitch
starts to give, a leather expert or a cobbler can fix
the stitching with a special leather sewing machine.
Shoe repair, when applying a repellent to a shoe to
help in repelling rain or snow is a form of shoe repair.
The water resistance of a shoe helps prolong the life
and wear of the shoe. Leather and other materials that
repellent will last longer when taken care of properly.
Shoe repair can save a pair of your favorite shoes,
but this only lasts as long as the material of the body
holds up.
